The homes will be built off Queensway Meadows near Spytty Road, the current access route to the 600-acre site. Under the agreement with Persimmon, about 2,000 homes worth a total of �£300m will be built on seven St Modwen-owned sites across the UK over the next five years.
The intended access road will be known as the Gateway and will open up the south west corner of the site for homes and a park. The latter will include play areas, open water features and new ecological habitats based on the Gwent Levels area.
