Meet the Team at Hutchings & Thomas

Robert Carew-Chaston BSc MRICS - Partner Robert Carew-Chaston is the current chairman of the South East Wales local association of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is an associate of the RICS. Robert qualified as a surveyor in 1992 and has over 15 years experience in South East Wales specialising in Property Development. Robert joined Hutchings and Thomas in August 1993 and has been instrumental in the growth of the business in the last 3 years. Whilst the majority of Roberts instructions have been based in South Wales, Robert has acted on behalf of Honda Motor Company in Swindon providing them and supplier companies with various property related advice throughout the United Kingdom. Recent major developments which Robert has been involved in include the development of Wales premier Buisiness Park, Celtic Springs, on behalf of AWG Property Ltd. Robert was also instrumental in the development and concluding the transaction in Magor of 750,000 sq ft for the Home Retail Group.

David Thomas - Chairman David Thomas qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1970 and is a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors having worked in London and Bristol. David assisted in the formation of the practice and is highly experienced in Valuation work and Landlord and Tenant advice. His client base is very extensive and well established ranging from Major Banks and Public Companies and also private clients. David is now a Senior Consultant to the firm and also serves as a Juris Prudence in the UK courts which he undertakes on a part time basis. David is also the Chairman of Hutchings & Thomas.

Haydn Thomas Haydn has been part of the Hutchings and Thomas team for over 10 years after joining as a graduate from De Montfort University. He has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the South Wales Commercial Market and now specialises in Office, Leisure and Retail agency acting for a number of national and local clients and is fully retained as regional agent for J.D Wetherspoon. Haydn is married with two children.

Glenn Haley Glenn Haley is a Chartered Surveyor with extensive experience in commercial property mainly in the South Wales market during the last 20 years. He assisted in the formation of the company in 1993 and then operated his own practice for 10 years , having rejoined Hutchings & Thomas in 2007. Glenn specializes in commercial investment transactions advising clients throughout the UK in relation to investment purchases and sales. His specialist sector is Industrial Property and he runs the Industrial Department at the firm.

David Jones David has been part of the Hutchings and Thomas team for 2 years after joining as a graduate from University of the West of England in Bristol. He has gained knowledge and experience in the South Wales Commercial Market and now specialises in Industrial and Retail agency acting for a number of local clients.

Musurut Ali Musurut joined the firm having trained and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor with DTZ Debenham Tie Leung. She has been with Hutchings & Thomas for over six years and specialises in mainly Landlord and Tenant matters. This includes advice on commercial leases, rent reviews, assignments and lease renewals. She also acts for a number of retained clients on retail acquisitions from identification of suitable premises, property appraisal, negotiating acceptable terms to monitoring the whole process to completion. The clients that she deals with is diverse, ranging from individual local owner/occupiers to large organistions with extensive portfolios.

David Pugsley David joined Hutchings and Thomas 9 years ago from DTZ. After completing a non cognate degree, and completing external RICS professional examinations, David was employed as Regional Property Manager for the WDA overlooking their large property portfolio along the Heads of the Valleys area. David has extensive experience in Industrial Agency and Professional matters and is currently responsible for the provision of valuation and professional consultancy services on behalf of Hutchings and Thomas. David is married with two teenage children.
