Booming value retail chain opens more South Wales stores
LEADING value grocery and family goods retailer B & M has opened two new stores in South Wales in the last week and another two more are also set to open soon.

The Lancashire-based retailer, which has a stable of in excess of 150 stores across the UK, has instructed South Wales agents, Hutchings & Thomas, to source suitable locations.

Hutchings & Thomas procured sites in Porthcawl and Pontypridd for the new B&M’s. The openings bring the total of B&M stores in South Wales to eight. The retailer is on the hunt for other suitable sites in the area.

Haydn Thomas, Director of Hutchings & Thomas, said: “B&M Retail has taken the opportunity of acquiring key sites in these towns for the new stores as they give them an ideal position to trade in South and South East Wales. The sites identified suit their requirements on the basis of location and the required size of around 8000 sq ft sales area.”

The retailer will consider town or city centre locations or locations on retail parks and want to have 10-15 S Wales stores by the end of the year.

Simon Arora, Director of B&M Retail Ltd., said: “We are delighted with our existing operations in South Wales and we are now looking to build on this success. We already enjoy a million shoppers a week and have opened a new shop every week so far this year, with that figure set to grow. We see South Wales as being a key part of those growth plans.”
Formed in 1976, Blackpool-based B&M prides itself on being one of the fastest growing discount retailer in the UK. The discount stores sell a wide range of goods from food to toiletries through to housewares and toys.
Each of the B&M stores, which each employ some 20-30 people, attract between 10,000 and 20,000 customers each week.
